UNION JACK HOISTED AT WINDHOEK COMPLETE SUCCESS OF GENERAL BOTHA'S OPERATIONS Ca P« Town, May 13. Official.—General Botha has tasted the Union Jack at Windhoek, the capital of German South-West Africa. There was no resistance. General Botha found three thousand European and twelve thousand natives in 'Windhoek'. ' Ho describes the result as practical]* the complete possession of German South-West Africa. GENERAL' BOTHA'S PROCLAMATION. (Rec. May 14, 0.45 a.m.) Cape Town, May 14. General Botha, -who is at Okahandja, by telephone arranged with the Burgomaster of Winhoek to hand over the place unresistingly. A proclamation issued regrets the Germans' decision to continuo the straggle, tiie end of which is plain. It will entail much misery and distress to civilians, but the latter can confidently rely on the Britishers' protection.
