PAHIATUA. Tfie Pahktua Debating Society has elected Mr. It. W. Carpenter president and Mr. J. A. Walsli secretary for the ensuing period. The proprietors of the Tararua (Ballaiice) cheese factory have offered the factory to the 6uppliere to run as a co-operative concern. The latter are forming a company and will take over the bunding and plant at valuation from June 1. It is expected that a wheyskimming plant will 'be installed iu readiness for next season.

Mr. J. W. Murray, a former member of the Akitio County Council, has been elected unopposed to represent the Akitio riding, the position being rendered vacant by the retirement of Councillor P. V. Smith.
