THE DESTROYER FIGHT IN NORTH SEA
STATEMENT BY THE ADMIRALTY

London, May 13. Further particulars of tli; action between British destroyers' and German torpedo boats in the North Sea .(reported on May 2 last), are published by the Admiralty. The German torpedo boats attacked four auxiliary craft, which included the Barbados and the Columbia. After a quarter of an hour they broke off tie action, but British destroyers, which had been notified of the direction of their retreat, followed them and destroyed both.
The Columbia was sunk, and her compliment of sixteen lost, with' the commander, Lieutenant Sir James Domville.
After the skipper of the Barbados was wounded he worked the helm under heavy fire to avoid being torpedoed. The other two auxiliary craft were the Meura and the Chirsit. A deck hand on the Columbia was saved.
