Messrs. Dalgety a.nd Co., Ltd., Mastcrton, report having held their usual weekly rale at Pahiatua, on Tuesday, when there was a good attendance, and a large entry of both sheep and cattle. There was a marked improvement in the demand for sheep, but cattle were hard to quit. A total clearance was made at the following prices:—Sheep: Woolly ewe lambs. 12s. 3d.; cull'ewes, Bs. 3d. Oattle: Fat, and forward cows, £4 9s. to i' 6 2s. 6d.; store cows,' £2 6s. to £2 135.; cull cons, 275. Ernest Leigliton reports:—At Mr. William Eoutlcy's clearing sale at Trcntham there was a large attendance, and a most satisfactory sale resulted. . Cowb sold at £6 10s. to £8 155.; springing heifers, £9; 2-year-old heifers, from £3 to £5 155.; young pigs, 175.; sow, 58s. Poultry sold exceptionally well. Ducks, ss. 3d. each; Black Orpington pullets, 4s. 6d.; White Orpingtons, hens, 3s. and 35 % 6d.; implements, tools, and sundries sold at full market value, whilst nursery stock met with a keen demand.' TTNIIESER7ED CLEARING SALE. The attention of those requiring firstclass stock is directed to advertisement appearing in this issue showing particulars of sheep, cattle, and horses to bo offered at the Palnicratou North saleyards on Tuesday next, on account of Ml'. Gcorgo Green, who has sold his Karcre property. Tho special lines of sheep comprise 800 ewes in lamb to Southd.own rums, and these and the 700 forward lambs will bo sold in lots to suit purchasers. A particularly hue draft of 230 fat aind forward bullocks will be yarded, and offered in suitable lines, and the young cattle, which are in good condition, will be drafted for sex and age. Those in search of extra good heavy draughts, broken to all work, will have a. splendid opportunity of filling their requirements, og the young maros being submitted to auction are staunch and sound in every respect. The balance of the. horses comprise a number of young draught geldings and fillies, hacks, suitable for remounts, and the well-known gelding Wrndage, who has won many valuao 0 race-. At Uurnside to-day fat cattle were yarded, consisting chiefly of medium weight bullocks and heifers, witU few pens of good bullocks. Priccs for good quality were, if anything, a shaie tetter than last weelt, but medium and inferior sold about tho same rates. NEW ZEALAND FRUIT ON HOME , MARKET. 1 Cabled adxico from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London, in record to a small consignment of "New Zealand fruit shipped "by the s.s. Ruahino to London in March last, states that the apples arived in excellent condition. They were exhibited at Covent Garden on May 10, and much interest in the fruit was taken by member's of the fruit trade and the Press. Prices realised were up to 4Jd. each for Cox's Orange, and up to l?d. each for Jonathans. The cases of pears shipped, however, arrived in bad condition. LONDON WOOL SALES. The following prices were realised for fleece portions of clips named: —Gowrie, top 16d., average 14£ d.; RosaStnore, 13d. and llSd.; Piangobla, 15d. and 14d.; Malboona, 26d. and 22 3-Bd.; Yanget, 12fcd. and Hid.; Now Zealand: Puknui, 15id. and 15 3-Bd. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., have Tcccived the following cablegram from London in reference to the wool sales:—"There was good attendance of buyers at the sales held to-day, and competition was fair. Prices show no change for the finer wools, but other sorts havo declined 5 per cent." FIXTURES FOR AUGUST. London, May 11. The mine superintendent of tho Jloss Goldfielde reports as follows for the week ended lfay-6:—No. 3 shoot has been connected with the intermediate working, and a drive is now being carried alone northwest from this point in pay wash. Blocking is proceeding off Nos. 2 and 3 southwest drives, and No. 4 north-east drive, with three shifts. At Kanieri works repairs to the tunnell extending over 1500 feet have been completed, and the main race i 6 now in use.
