KARORI BOROUGH COUNCIL

. 6 At last night's meeting of the Karori Borough Council the Mayor (Mr. B. G. H. Burn) presided, and there were also, present: Councillors L. P, Divis, R. Faire, T. Lewer, J. G. Raine, W. Cooper, and W. Skegg. The Wellington Hospital and' Charitable Aid Board estimates for the year were received, and referred to the Finance Committee for consideration and report. A letter was received from tho Now Zealand Patriotic Society in reference to the forthcoming carnival, and it was resolved to reply offering the council's hearty support to the movement to raise funds. Miss D. Tinney, hon. secretary of the Wellington Ladies' Hookey Association, wrote to ask if the council would consider an application to run a special car on Saturdays for hockey players only, the car to leave Courtcnaj; Place at 1.20 p.m. and Government Buildings at 1.30 p.m., and to be a non-stop car after leaving the buildings. The letter, was referred to the tramway authorities for information in regard to arrangements in previous seasons. The borough engineer's fortnightly report stated that the council's men had during the period been mainly employed in quarrying metal for the Wellington Harbour Board. Tho delivery of the metal had been retardedi owing to the illness of the driver of the steam wagon, but on Monday last delivery was resumed. The repairs to tno tram track extension had been completed with the exception of lifting the rail for about 20 feet in front or Chesney Wold. The length of track completed on the extension was 118 chains, including loops and double lines, the cost being £130. The track from Drydeu's corner to the deviation was in a bad state, and the Works Committee recommended its repair. For Bronchial Coughs and Colds, Woods' Great Peppermint Curs, It. 6d."
