"THE CONSTRUCTIVE QUARTERLY."

The war and other topics of present interest are dealt with by various writers in the March issue of the "Constructive Quarterly" (Oxford "University Press), In tho opening article the question of Churoh union is discussed by the Bishop of Winchester (Dr. Talbot). "The Churches, the War, and the Future" is the subject of a paper by Dr. Solbie (Principal of Mansfield College, Oxford), who states that if the war is to result in a settlement that will be something more stable than the condition of armed suspicion which has prevailed in Europe for so long, the churches will have to do their utmost to create a new atmosphere in which the Christian temper and ideals will be able to play a larger part than has ever been open to them before. Dr. Battipl, the distinguished French theologian, writes on war from the Roman Catholic point of view, and the same subject is dealt ■with by Dr. Hodgkin, Secretary of the Friends' Foreign Mission Association, London. Another timely paper is that entitled "Byzantium the Pr<!sorvcr of Orthodoxy." by Professor Sokoloff, of Petrograd. These and other articles make a dccidedlv interesting number.
