INSTALLATION OF THE MAYOR
CEREMONY AT NOON TO-DAY. ; The installation of the Mayor, of Wellington (Mr. J. P. Luke) takes place < in the Council Chambers at noon to-day, i following on which committees of the < new council will be set up. The mem- i bers will also have to deal with a special \ order relating to the new lease to be ( granted for the Club Hotel site, and i will open several tenders _ 1 The Mayor has at past installations ! given a luncheou to members of the council and the executive officers, but i this year he has decided to drop this t procedure, and instead donate trie ap- 1 proximate cost, £20, to the various orphanages in Wellington, giving a ( cheque for £4 each to St. Mary's Or- < phanage, the Presbyterian Orphanage, ' Mother Mary Aubart's Home, Salvation 1 Army Children' 6 Home, and the Levin ; Home. The first general meeting of the new i council will be held on Thursday, May 1 27. 1 j
