A Vienna communique says that the Russians are retreating on a front of two hundred kilometres, from the Vistula to the Uzsok Pass. Mora violent battles are developing in southern-eastorn/Galicia. 5 THE GERMAN OFFICIAL COMMUNIQUE. London, May 9. An official Offjpmunique from Berlin states: ; •' "Owing to the'strong forces at Mifcau, our detachments withdrew. "General Mackensen has crossed the Wisloka. Tho Russians are withdraw* ingto the Vistula, owing to pressure oast and north of Tarnoir," .
