Tlie Egmont Racing Club's WinteT Meeting will take place on Wednesday and Thursday of this week. Present indications point to Royal Arms being the favourite for the Great Northern Hurdles. Last year's National winner is well treated with lflst. 131b., and if he shows any form at the Egmont meeting this week he will soon be at a short price for the big Ellerslie event. Vascular (Vasco—Pellicle) is nominated in the hack hurdle events at Wanganui meeting, and ia _ the Great Northern Hurdles at Ellerslie. When he raced at Hastings the bi£ Karamu representative gave the impression that he will want a lot of racing over fences before iho could win a raco. ' The well-bred Snowraker (Charlemagne ll—Happy Valley) is to be tried .over hurdles. ■ He will accompany Daylight Bill to the.Wanganui and Hastings meetings to race in hack hurdle events. The Manawatu Trotting Club is holding a, meeting this evening to fix a date for its annual meeting. On present appearances the club should have a highly successiul turnout at its first meeting wnth the machine operating. There aro over a dozen horses at present working at Awapuni in anticipation of the gathering. ° Imarose and Byron arrived back from their unsuccessful trip to Blenheim on Saturday morning, and lator in the day ! they were railed home to Awapuni. The last-named appears 'to be a bit shin sore, and may not be raced again this season.
