COMPARED WITH NEW ZEALAND. (Rec. May 9, 5.10 p.m.) Sydney, May 9. Mr. i Nielson, the American Trade Commissioner, draws the Government's attention to the trade advantages enjoyed by New _ Zealand over Australia b}' her reciprocity agreement with Canada. Tli© absonco of such an arrajig&ment effectively shuts out New South Wales, her products being unable to compete with New Zealand, paying, as they do in many Cases, 33 per cent, more duty than New Zealand, one cent per pound more oil meat and two cents on butter.
