LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
RECRUITING. A HINT FOR' THE AUTHORITIES. Sir,—There is a general impression thafc recruiting for the Reinforcements is not satisfactory, and in my opinion it is not likely to bo so until a s'ight< alteration is made in regard to the medical test. "Now, Sir, I will quote my own caso. My chest measurement is 34-i inches, and I am in perfect bodily health, and a private doctor whom I consulted was unable to fault me. I havo had ten years' military experience, and ho'd a number of trophies for rifle shooting. I havo worked amongst horses all my life, and yet the Defence people are taking on men for the mounted section who have had absolutely no experience with horses. There must be hundreds of men in the same position as myself, and think that it is time the Government gave us a chance. The Bautam Regiment has been a great success at Home, and would certainly be here if tried.—l am, etc., MILK-0.
