THE GOVERNOR'S APPRECIATION
The following letter received by the Minister of Defence (Hon. J. Allen) from His Excellency the Governor was circulated among Headquarters officers .yesterday "Auckland, April 30, 1915. "Memorandum 5. "For the Minister of Defence. "Sir,—For a considerable time past I have been aware of the enormous amount of work which has been placed on the shoulders of the Headquarters Staff at present in the Dominion in connection with tho training, equipment, and dispatch of troops. As Governor of this Dominion, I should be glad if you would convey to tho Commandant an expression of my appreciation of all that has been done so ofiieiontly and well by the several departments. It is a source of pride, I am stiro, to all of us that in such times of stress and difficulty all the Public Departments have so ably and willingly risen to th© occasion. "In conclusion, I am sure tiiat everyi oiw will agree that their labour has I already been _ well rewarded by the sratnontK satisfactory remit* which 1 Davit been achieved,—Liverpool."
