SWEARING-IN THE MAYOR

PROBABLY ON WEDNESDAY NEST.

On being consulted yesterday afternoon., the Chief Returning Officer (Mr. James Ames) stated that the whole of the-figures in connection with the redent elections will be ready by to-night, and will be published in to-morrow morning's papers for certain. The Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) was consulted as to when the swearing-in ceremony would take place, and stated that it was probable that the ceremony would be fixed for noon on Wednesday next. It is likely that, the chairman of tho Harbour Board will be elected the same day.
