At the end of last November (here were 637,071 paupers in receipt of relief in England and Wales. The Roman. Catholic Church is nominally the ruling State religion of Italy, but the {lower of the Church and clergy is subordinated to the civil government, and there la freedom of worship to the adherents of all recognised religions.
