RED CROSS FUND AND THE NELSON COLLEGE BOYS

HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS. The Union Company's Pateena . ar'ived at "Wellington on Tuesday night at 10 o'clock, after a splendid run from Nelson of ten hours. She carried over Bixty of the Nelson College Boys 'returning home for the. holidays. After leaving Picton divine service was held in tho social hall of ths Pateena at 7.30_ p.m. at-which there was an overflowing congregation. The musical part of the service was taken by Mr. Thompson, one of the masters of the Nelson Boys' College, and two of the senior pupils took up the offertory, lfhich was in aid of the Nelson Branch of the Red Cross Association, and resulted in .£3 being added to the fund. Both the Anglican and Methodist ministers took part in the religious service, which was much appreciated by the passengers. It was suggested that the travelling clergy might more frequently conduct such services when passing to i ■ > as invariable custom on tho Australasian boats, and the Homoward bound liners.
