SOME ADDITIONAL DETAILS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Christchurch; May 5. Lieut. E. H. S. Batchelor, reported wounded, is ttic eldest son of Major H. S. Batchelor, Quartermaster of the Ist Canterbury Regiment, and is 21 years of age. He is a native of Christchurch, and was a member of the Cadet team which visited the Toronto Exhibition in 1912, and was a mfember of the No. 79 Cadet Company, from which he was drafted into the Ist Canterbury Regiment, where he immediately was given a commission, and placed in command of the signalling squad of the regiment. 'He left with the Main Force in command of the signalling squad of the Infantry Battalion. Prior to joining -the Expeditionary Force he ivas in the employ, of the Cnristchnrch Meat Company. He gave great promise as an athlete.
Privato S. T. Reid, of the Canterbury Infantry Battalion, reported wounded in the head, was a surveyor, and his people reside at Foxton. Prior to joining the Expeditionary Force he was employed as a surveyor oil tho Ashley Gorge Road works, under tho Public Works Department. Private J. C. Mullins, reportod wounded, prior to joining tho Force, was a member of the literary staff of tho "New Zealand Referee," and a.prominent footballer and tennis player. At tho conclusion of the Mayoral installation a motion of condolence with those who liavo fallem in the Dardanelles, was carricd, the councillors standing.
