LOWER HUTT COURT

The monthly sitting of the Lower Hutt Magistrate's Court was held before Mr. D. G. A. ' Cooper, S.M. Messrs. J. Wilkin and J. Cudby, J.P.'s, were also on the Bench. For allowing stock to wander, H. Dormer'and E. Pay were each fined os., with costs (75.), in default two days' imprisonment. CIVIL ACTIONS. . In the following civil cases judgment was given for plaintiff by default:— Gadsby Bros. v. Peter Dixon, £11 18s. Id., costs £2 75.; Lower Hutt Borough Council v. Mrs. P. M'Morran, £8 125., Gd., costs 135.; samo v. Henry Leggatt, £11 16s. Id., costs 15s. The Inspector of Awards (Mr. M. Slaughter) applied to have an action against the Wcstland Timber Company, a claim for £10 for an alleged breach of an award, reheard. ' Mr. J. C. Peacock opposed the application, which was refused, costs being disallowed.
