GRAND OPERA HOUSE. The Beaumont Smith Company finish-. e:l up a very successful.season in Wellington last night, when they produced "The Glad Eye." Miss Ethel Dane was again seen as the fascinating Kiki, and had a great reception from the audience. HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. The season of the talented RandellJackson Company is drawing to « close at His Majesty's Theatre, and 1 those who have not yet witnessed the company would do well to pay a visit to His Majesty's. The singing of Mr. RandellJackson has been especially appreciated during the New Zealand tour, while the other members are givin' higli-class English songs. Other leading performers are Les Wharton, coon impersonator; George Campbell, a comedy juggler; and Dormer and Lloyd, musical comedy artists. There will be a matiuee on Saturday. "THIS IS THE LIFE." Preparations are now well advanced for the appcarance on Monday evening next at His Majesty's Theatre of Mr. Paul Stanhope and his American burlesque company, who will present the new topical and comedy revue, "This is the Life." The revue is a form of entertainment that has been popular for some time past in England and America, and it is anticipated that it will be acceptable to local audiences. Mr. Paul Stanhope, who is a comedian with an American reputation, will be supported by Miss Fritzee de Guy, a burlesque actress, who has recently been playing in a number of first-class American Theatres, and whose work is said to be exceptionally dainty. Mr. Les Bates, American comedian of note, has been specially engaged for this production, and has a part that suits him well. A number of catchy songs and pleasing ballets will be introduced, and the scenery, which ha 3 been especially painted by Mr. J. Cuttle, is spoken of as being very good., The revue will run for sis nights and a matinee. The box plan is now on view at the Bristol Piano Company's depot. Usual prices will prevail.'

'THE KING'S'THEATRE. The star film at tho King's Theatre this week is entitled "The Intriguers,", and it deaU with two adventurers moving in tlio upper oircles in the United States. The plot is very interesting, while many of the scenes are out of the ordinary. . Supporting films include "Wonders of Magnetism," "The Red Signal," Kalem drama; and a Keystone comedy, with Syd. Chaplin in the lead.

EVERYBODY'S. Very brisk business prevailed throughout yesterday at Everybody's Picture Theatre, where a programme of merit holds the screen. Quite exceptional interest, is evinced by spectators in a particularly good reproduction, under the title of "The Abduction," dealing with the hazardous, vet somewhat fascinating' career' of the liotorioin Dr. Gar Eli Hama, a master criminal of his time,, who operated.in.Denmark. Both acting and filming are of unusual quality. Some brilliantly clever cartooning is sliown by the artist responsible for the war skit, "Willie's Bubble Burst," while the smart acting of the American female impersonator, Murray, in .Keystone's "His Second Childhood," is the cause of much merriment. Other subjects include "Pleasing Uncle," and the latest Gaumont AVai Graphic. PEOPLE'S, PICTURE PALACE. A complete change of programme will be screened at the People's Picture Palace, to-day. It will be headed by a, sensational -film entitled "His Brother's Redemption," which will be up to the high standard of the films of this theatre. "A Bachelor's Romance" will also be included in the programme, as well as a remarkable film showing the great Swiss mobilisation. Many topical war films will also be shown.

THE EMPRESS THEATRE. At tlis Empress Theatre Continuous Pictures to-day and to-night "will be presented a complete change cf programme. The bill will include the seventh series of' Selig's sensational wild animal drama, "The Adventures of Kathlyn," entitled "In the Garden of Brides." In this chapter of the story Kathlyn and Bruce, the young American engineer, escape from the clutches of a band of brigands. After recuperating at a neighbouring village Kathlyn and Bruce set about to rescue the former's father who is a prisoner in the city of Allaha. An artful ruse is worked by Kathlyn, which in a measure is successful in bringing about the freedom of lier father. The subject introduces several spectacular scenes. The remaining films aro "A Fatal Bumping" (Keystone comedy), "Prosecution"' (Vitagraph drama), "The Australian Gazette, and "Joffro Nibbling at 'Em." " JOSEPH BLASCHECK. Mr. Joseph Blascheck, who is making a final tour before returning to London, will open at the Grand Opera House on Saturday next, and will be supported in his entertainment of. humour and music by Miss Alyce Austin a young lady of considerable musical talent. She is a native of Ballarat, Victoria, and after studying at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music under Professor Marshall Hall s,lie gained the highest diploma of the Trinity College of Music, London (L.T.C.L.). She had already at-, tained her L.A.B. and A.T.C.L., and was the youngest in the state of Victoria to hold these diplomas. Miss Austin is said to possess an exceptionally clear and' brilliant soprano voice, and in her lighter work has gained considerable .reputation as an entertainer with a distinct style of her own. Mr. Biascheck's new series of "Society Snapshots" are the same as ho gave at the Qrcen's Hall, London, last year, playing for four weeks to crowded houses. The Wellington patrons will be afforded an opportunity 011 Saturday evening next of hearing the latest monologues, ducts', songs, etc., which Mr. Blascheck has brought from London. The box plan is now open at tho Bristol Piano Depot, and the day sales are at Miss Lennox's.
