Gardner) has completed tho official recount, of the votes recorded in connection with the Petone Council election, the final figures being as follow: — D". M'Kenzie 670 J. List 650 R. ,H. The annual smoke concert of tho Pe-1 tone Cricket Club was held on Saturday night, and was largely attended. ' The usual toasts wore honoured, and there were also present the' following clubs' representatives:—North- and Cricket Association, Mr. Wilson; East, Mr. Midlane; Old BoySj Mr. Beechey; Central, Messrs. Burton ' and Hood ; Victoria College, Mr. J. Fanning; Umpires' Association, Mr. D. M'Kenzie; Petone Fotoball Club, Mr. J. Lynskey : Petone-Rifle Club,' Mr. R. Flaws,.and others.- ■ ■ 1 The following trophies were presented during the evening:—President's, best batting average, Mr. W. S. Brice; Mr. H. Card's trophy, best fielder, senior team, Mr. H. Tregear; Mr. _ Palmer's trophy, best all-round junior team, Mr. A. Taylor.- Mrs. Card's trophy, most improved player, third grade, Master Ren. Cowie. The chairman, on behalf of the club, presented Dr. Ross, ivith a framed photograph of the senior team, a case of pipes, and an album containing photographs of the junior and third class teams. A musical programme was contribute! by Messrs. "Walsh, Taylor, Miller, M'Ewan, Borrows, Chamberlain, Kerr, Wray, Tinney, Steinmuller, and Christian. Mr. D. M. Armstrong 'was accompanist. TENNIS TOURNAMENT RESULTS: The following are the results in connection with the-tournaments held during the past season by the Petone Tennis club: Ladies' Handicap Single (Mr. 'B. C. Warne's trophy): Miss Arrowsmith; runner-up, Miss Bennett. Men'j Handicap Singles (Mr. B. C. Warne's trophy): Mr. H. Parkinson; runner-up, Mr. Ron. Cowie. Combined Handicap Doubles (Mr. R. Fox's and club trophies): Miss Cochrane and Mr. Ron. Cowie; runners-up, Miss Walters and Mr. G. A. Duncan. A football match was played at the Hutt Recreation Ground- on Saturday between the Hutt'and Petone Senior Cadets, and resulted in a victory f<ir the latter team by 16 te 8. For the Hutt, Pole and Dennehy each scored one try, .Halley converting one. Mr. J. Baumber was referee. A friendly game of bowls between Hutt and Eastbourne at the Hutt green resulted as follows: —Hutt: Thompson, Williams, Hogarth, Yates (s.), 26. 'Eastbourne: Wright, Jackson, Morris, Pilcher (s.), 12. The following is the result of the president's v. vice-president's match at the Lower Hutt bowling green:—President's: Knight, Humphries, Davidson, Macaskill (s.), 23. .
