THE SAVAGE CLUB
ANNUAL MEETING. Mr. T. M. Wilford, M.P.,. occupied the chair at the annual meeting of the Wellington Savage Club, held in the Giand Hotel last evening. In moving the adoption of the annual report ana balance-sheet, the chairman referred to the satisfactory state of the club's finances, and the many very pleasant korero's the club had enjoyed during the last season. Reference waa also made to the number of members who had placed their services at the disposal of their country, and in particular welcomed back to their midst Lieutenant Isaacs,. who had returned from Samoa and wa3 going on with the staffs of the stationary hospital. Mention was made, too, of the . number of interesting visitors the club had entertained, including Mr. Harry Lauder. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Mr. F. J. Courtenay; vice-presidents, Slessrs. Marcus Marks, A. W. Newton, Geo. Shirtcliffe, and Dr. Purely; council, Messrs. W. H. Atack, D. A. Kenny, P. Levi. W. J. Meredith, C. A. Marquis, F. Twiss, F. V. Waters, and T. M. Wilford; musical director, left to incoming committee; secretary, Mr. James Dykes; treasurer, Mr. De Castro; auditor, Mr. A. S. Biss. At the conclusion of the meeting the chairman proposed the health of the King, which was drunk with musical honours. A vote of thanks to the chairman for presiding concluded the proceedings. It was announced that the first korero of the season would probably be held on Saturday evening next.
