TOTALISATOR PERMITS
COMMISSION HAS REPORTED. TFTe ■Commissioners appointed by the Government to advise as to the allocation of the 31 totalisator permits to be granted under the Ganiing Amendment Act of last session, presented their report yesterday to the Minister of Internal Affairs (the ! Hon. H. D. Bell), by whom it will be forwarded to the Governor. Altogether 77 applications were before Hie Commissioners (Mr. G. Hunter, M.P., and Mr. T.' H. Davey),. and they' investigated all of them i except one from Chatham Islands. This place was rather too .remote. In all there are to be granted 15 permits to racing clubs, 8 to trotting clubs, and t 8 to hunt clubs. To make their inquiries the Commission had to mate journeys. They covered some 10,000 miles on their tour, and their average rate of travel was 131 miles per day. r
