BIG AMALGAMATION AT BROKEN HILL
TO ACQUIRE PORT PIRIE SMELTING WORKS. Melbourne, April 30. '• A meeting of tho_ North, South, and Proprietary Broken" Hill mines agreed to the forming of an Associated Smelters' Proprietary, to acquire the Port Pine smelting works, the Ballambi cokeworks, and all contracts concerned with the smelting and treatment. of silver and lead ores and other metals. The nominal capital is £750,000, the proprietary company receiving £450,000 for the Port Pirie Works. The contracting companies' agreement provides that the whole of the output of lead concentrates purchased at Broken Hill shall go to the Smelting Company for fifty years.
