CONVALESCENT TROOPERS
ample Accommodation available. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Dunedln, April 30. The. Hon. R. H. Rhodes, Minister of Public Health, informed a. reporter today that there will be no difficulty m the matter of providing'' adequate accommodation for convalescent troopers Who may return from the front in the near future. The-Government has received several offers of accommodation" in private residences which could be utilised as convalescent homes for invalided soldiers, and had accepted the generous offer of Mr. C. Izard, whose property at Upper Hutt is particularly suited tor the purpose, and will provide comfortable accommodation for twenty patients, • while further accommodation can easily be provided in the form of hospital'tents on the spacious lawn, ifnecessary. It is thought by the departmental officers that an. elastic system of hospital accommodation throughout the Dominion will enable the various administrative hoards 'to meet any special call npon tho institutions. Even if the institutions and the new military hospital at Trentham were overtaxed, a contingency that appears to be remote, it would lftt be difficult to provide additional accommodation in ample time for the reception of convalescent troopers. It was obvious,, too, that those troopers who .were not in need of special treatment in hospitals prefer to go to' their own homes. The possible need of hoßpial - accommodation for invalided troopers was realised by all the administrative authorities; and • the public may feel confident .that if the need arises completely adequate attention will be given to the convataeut wounded soldiers.
