THE WAR IN THE EASTERN THEATRE
RENEWED FIGHTING ON EAST PRUSSIAN FRONT The High Commissioner roports:— London, April 29, 11 a.m. "On Tuesday, ihe enemy were active in the directions of Tilsit, Chavli, and Jurburg (on the Niemen) and south of the Niemen in tho Szeszuppe district. The collisions ended in the favour of the Russians. " "North of the Narew, on Tuesday morning, the Germans attacked on both banks of the River Orzec (a tributary of the Narew). The Russians, using the bayonet, repulsed attacks in the region of the village of Jednorozec. "West of tho Mlawa railway, attempts to advance by the enemy'B advanced guards were repulsed. "In the region of the Uszok Pas 6 on Monday and Monday night, there wore energetic attacks by the enemy against the lieightfcs north-east of the villages of Luenia and Buda, and tho enemy suffered losses in the barbed-wire entanglements. ' ■ ' "In the direction of Stryj, desperate engagements are still progressing, [n the region of Kosziowo on Monday, the enemy attempted an assault, but sras repulsed by successful counter-attacks with the bayonet."
