SCHOOL COMMITTEES' REPORTS
$ NORTHLAND. The report of the-Northland School states that the members of the committee have worked well together iu carrying out the wishes and requirements of the householders during the year, and most cordial relations have oxisted between tho committee and the teaching staff. During tho .year two fine large classrooms and a headmaster's room have been added to tho original building. Iu connection with this matter. the best thanks of-tho community are due to the member for the district, who entered wholeheartedly into the project, and who, with the Minister of Education and tho chairman and the secretary of the Education Board, paid a visit of inspection to the school in August last. The school grounds aro being .attended to also, and before long will be almost level. The headmaster, with the assistance of the boys, put in some very useful work during the year at tho fences, etc. Arbor Day was celebrated by planting a great many trees and hedge plants. The annual picnic was held on February . 10 at Karori Tea Gardens, and proved a very enjoyable outing. Two concerts were held during the year, which added considerably to the revenue. The school staff and scholars also held a Christmas tree sale, to help the Belgian Relief Fund, which realised about £16. The educa-' tional record for the year has been a credit to the teaching staff, no less than fifteen proficiency passes being gained and two board scholarships. The school numbers are gradually increasing, and, if the present rate of progress is maintained, the school will bo entitled bv the end of the year to a male assistant teacher.
ROSENEATH. The Roseneath School Committee, in their annual report, state that during the year a, slight epidemic of measles ocourred_ in the district, but without any serious consequences. The bal-ance-sheet for the financial year ended December 31, 1914, shows a balance 'of £14 os. 4d. The overcrowded state of the school caused the committee to urge upon the Education Board tho necessity for extending the premises, and the Board responded by establishing a side school for infants at the Hataitai end of tho Grafton Road.
