The proposal to borrow £24,000 for. tramway power and electric lighting was carried, but the general purpose loan of £67,000 was defeated. Palmerston "North.—The Mayoral election resulted:—Mr. J. A. Nash, the present Mayor, 1965; Mr. F. J. Nathan 1405. Stratford—The Mayoral election resulted:—Mr. J. W. Boon, 376; Mr. R. McK'Morrison, 122. Hawera. —The Mayoral election resulted:—Mr. E. For the Hospital Board six candidates stood, and the following four were eected:—Messrs. Leaver, 913; M'Donald, 829; Samuel, 686; Greenwood, 654. ! Ohristchurch—The municipal elections resulted:—City Mayoralty: Mr. H. Holland (the retiring Mayor), 4591 ; Mr.' R. M. Spiers (Social-Domocrat), 3947; Mr. C. TE: B. Sorensonj 3634. The City Council was eleoted as follows : Citizens' Association, 9 ' members; Social Democrats, 6; Independent, I.' Mr. Davis had held'the office :for twelve consecutive years, and had been elected unopposed on each occasion. The poll was the largest known here. Oamaru—The Mayoral election resulted in Mr.'W; H. Frith, .retiring Mayor, defeating Mr. A Jas. Mitchell by 145 votes. Dunedin. —The city Mayoral election resulted as follows:—Mr. Clark, 6862; Mr. Myers, 5251; Mr. Marlo'w. 3940. Port Chalmers.—The Mayoral election resulted: —Mr., T. Scollay (retiring Mayor), 509; Mr. TV. Morgan, 470. The poll on the question of .the weekly halfholiday was taken to-day, and resulted as follows:—Saturday, 10,343; Wednesday, 9128; .majority in favour of Satur-, day, 1215. . The Saturday proposal was, therefore,'carried. Mornington.—Mr. Sincock was elected Mayor with 587 votes, his opponent, Mr. Harraway, securing 391. 1 Inveroargill.-r-Mr. Duncan M'Farlane was re-elected Mayor of Invercargill by 700 majority.
