' Mails for Chatham Islands close at Lyttelton, per Himitangi, on Wednesday, Hay 6, at 2.46 p.m. Late letters for mails beyoijd the Do-' minion cdnnot in future be posted on the steamer, but must be posted in the lateletter posting box at the Chief Poet Office up to the appointed time shown on the mail notice. The advertised times for closing mails by steamers aro . liable to alteration (earlier or later) at any moment. The parcel post mail per Main Trunk express closes at the G.P.O. at 11.30 a.m., and for the South per Ferry Steamer, at 645 p.m., Parcels for dispatch/by steamers and trains, with the exception of the usual Ferry Steamers for Southern offices, dose at the Chief Post Office, Wellington, one hour before the advertised times of dosing of mails. As the last clearanco of the CKty receivers iB made at 5.45 p.m. on Saturdays all correspondence for the Sunday night Auckland express must be posted at the Chief Post Office not later than 8 p.m on Sunday. The public are earnestly requested to re. gister all letters containing money or valuables intended to be sent by post All books and sample-packets and newspapers for places- within the Dominion must be poßted half an hour before the ordinary letter-mail., closes. Unless otherwise specified, registered letters and parcels-post packages must be handed in and money-orders obtained one hour beforo the ordinary mail closes.
