The Court said: "Tho petitioner, haviug stated by his counsel that he does not desire to proceed further with his' petition, and that he has no further cause to show that Robert M'Nab was not . duly returned as a member of Parliament for the' electoral district of Hawke's Bay, and there being no charge of corrupt or illegal practices, tho said Robert M'Nab must be declared, and he is hereby declared, to ba duly elected. /The only question is what costs should be allowed the respondent (Dr. M'Nab). Counsel fpr the petitioner (Mr. Campbell) asks that the same scale of costs be .allowed as was allowed in the Wellington City election petition, that is on a scale as if £801 li'ifti been claimed in a civil action. Counsel for respondent asks that the scale be tho same as if £1000 were claimed.. The amount in issue is only a sum-of £12 10s." Tho Court allowed costs ao in the Wellington election case, except .that the extra £12 10s. was granted. Their Honours added: "ffe alloiy. seven extra days, and we allow extra counsel for eight days, according to scale; also witnesses' expenses and disbursements..
The following resolution was confirm- • ed at the annual meeting of St. Mark's Parish, held on Monday evening:— '' Whereas it is deemed' expedient that that portion of the Parish of St. Mark, Wellington, Now Zealand, known as the District of Roseneath, be constituted a separate district to be known as the farochial District of _ Roseneath, and whereas the said district of Roseneath has agreed to provide the necessary stipend, and has provided a suitable vicarage, we the parishioners of the Parish of St. Mark, liereby assent to the separation of the district of Roseneath, and further agree to contribute to the support of tho Parochial District of Roseneath for a period of eight years, for the first year the sum of £80, tho amount to be reduced by £10 anuualty" . , The seoret-ary of the'.Wellington Acclimatisation Society, states that the. birds which may be shot in the Wellington Society's district from I • to July 31, 1915, are:—lmported game (to shoot which a license is necessary), cock pheasants; hares, Californian and Australian quail, native game, grey • duck, teal duck, and swan. Hares are protected by gazetted regulation throughout the whole of the Wellington Society's district, "and can.only be shot under license during May, June, and July. Pukeko are protected throughout the whole district, pigeons also, and Paradise duck. ■ As statements hare been made in the Wellington Piess that some of the above—notably pukeko—may. be shot, sportsmen should note the correction. At a meeting of the Petone TJnit of the National Reserve held -last evening, the Mayor (Mr. J, W. M'Ewan) presiding, the following resolution was unanimously carried That Reservist R. Watson be nominated as captain of the "D" Company, and that the Upper I Hutt, Lower Hutt, and Taita units be • written to asking for their co-opera-tion in his election. It was also resolved that the secretary write to Mr. Bell, asking that the qualifications of • the candidates be stated on the ballotpapers. Messrs. Boyd, Thompson and Wright' were appointed a recruiting committee in connection with the movement. ,
