KARORI AFFAIRS
The fortnightly meeting of the Karon Borough Council was held last night. There were present: The Mayor (Mr. W. T. Hildreth), and Councillors B. S. H. Burn, L. P. Davies, A. Hamilton, P. Jordon, J. W. Henderson, T. 11. Boyes, W. Skegg, and Bradnock. The Wellington Hospital and Charitable Aid Board wrote intimating that the. apportionment of the estimated expenditure to the Karori Borough was £380 6s. Bd. for the year ending March 21, 1916. After some discussion it was decided to refer the letter to the Finance Committee of the Council for a report and to ask the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board to furnish details of the expenditure mentioned. The apportionment was stated to be £51 12s. 4d. over last year's. In response to a request of the council to have a slot telephone erected in the neighbourhood of Lancaster Street the Post and Telegraph Department wrote stating that it was unable to accede to the request as the revenue derived would not be sufficient to warrant the expenditure on the. erection of the telephone. It was decided to protest against the proposal of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board to purchase a milk farm for the Hospital supply. Accounts totalling £102 10s. 7d. were passed for payment. ,
