AN UNUSUAL ACCIDENT

AT A MILITARY DAMP. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Hamilton, April 26. An unusual accident occurred in the military camp at Morrinsville on Sunday afternoon. A party of visitors wero being conducted over, and were having a machine-gun demonstrated, to them, a belt of dead cartridges being used for tho purpose. By somo inadvertence a live cartridge got into the barrel of tho Run and went off, striking a man named Thompson on the foot, cutting a piece out of the boot, but without injuring him. After hitting the ground it apparently ricochet-ted and entered the leg of another visitor named Smith, who •was admitted to the Waikato Hospital this morning. The bullet is apparently still in the leg. An inquiry into the occurrence ia boing held.
