Totals: Hutt, 152; Wellington, 158. NEWTOWN CLUB. In the absence of the president, Mr. J. Trevor, Mr. C. M. Luke, the Newtown Club's vice-president, declared the 1914-15 6eason closed on Saturday. Mr. Luke deplored the continued sorious indisposition of the president, and on his motion, seconded by Mr. J. Gallie, ,he was deputed to convey to Mr. Trevor the great sympathy of the members for him and their sincere hope for his speedy improvement in health. During the afternoon the wives and daughters of members were entertained by the directors to afternoon tea in the pavilion. Mr. C. M. Luke, in the course of a few appropriate remarks, testifying to the great debt of gratitude the club owed the ladies for' the live interest they take in the social side of the club's affairs. during the winter recess, and in taking charge of the teas throughout the season. A game between sides representing the president and vice-president was played, the former's representatives winning by a margin of 11 points, as under, the scores for the president's team being given first in each instance: Laughton, Fieldhouse, Gallie, Salmon (s.), 18; Powell, Ha3 T croft, Hendry, P. Roberts (s.), 18. Davis, W. Roberts, Armstrong, J.. Brackenridge (s.), 27; Blenkinsop, M'Lean, Richards, Price (s.), 17. Pankhurst, Meyrick, Webb, Bland (s.), 15; Chittey, Parton, Astill, Duff (s.), 32. S. E. Luke, Revell, Tonks, Leahy (s.), 24; Mowbray, Levistam, Read, Spiers (s.), 11. Youmans, ■Popple, J. Totals—President's side, 125; vice president's, 114. t During the afternoon the competition for tlie Underwood Cup was brought to a finish. J. Russell defeated S. Phillips for Section A by 22 to 14; and in the final, 25 heads being played, defeated Bert Warwick by 26 to 21, with a head to go. The winner, who iv only a third-year player, must be complimented on his fine performance.
