ORGAN RECITAL

Tile recital given by the City Organist, Mr. Bernard Page, in the Town Hall on Saturday, was one of the most enjoyable and interesting recitals given for some time past. Of main interest, perhaps, were tno two choral improvisations of tho great Karg-Elert. The compositions reveal wonders of musical workmanship and to have such a fine musician and so great an admirer of Karg-Elert as Mr. Page is to interpret them was indeed a rare musical treat to those present at the recital. Tho great fugue at the conclusion of the composition was rendered with remarkable power. The "Prelude" to Act lof "Tristan and Isolde" (Wagner), which is described as "the finest musical picture of love and despair that has ever been written," also received a great interpretation from Mr. Page. Handel's "Concerto in ■ D Minor" (the AdagioAllegro, Aria, and Allegro) was also given. This number was followed by the particularly appealing "Melodie" of Rachmaninoff. MacDowell's "In Passing Moods"—(]) "Prologue," (2) "An Old Love Story," (3) "A Deserted Farm," (4) "Told at Sunset"—were also included in the programme, as was Faulke's "Rhapsodie" ("0 Filii et Filiae").
