The attention of racehorse owners is called to the closing of nominations this evening for the steeplechase meeting of the Wanganui Jockey Club. The advertisement appeared in Saturday's issue. The New Zealand-bred horse ,Waimorla, by Conqueror—Valance, is proving himeelf a champion among the Tasmanian hurdlers. He won again at the Tasmanian Turf Club's meeting on April 10, this being his third success in a week. Mr. G. L. Stead's Grand National Steeplechase winner, Tim Doolan, . who went to Australia some time ago, is now an inmate of E. A. Connoly's stable at Caulfield.
Two. Warrington-bred horses were among the winners at a Tecent meeting in Tasmania. They were the Stepniak mare Aeroplane, and Sartolera, by Sarto —Ventalera.
W. Telford, formerly a well-known trainer at Awapuni, met with a serious .accident last week, and at present he is in the Palmerston North Hospital.He got his arm- entangled in some machinery and it was badly torn. .
While running in the Longburn Handicap at Awapuni Kilrain broke down bully, and J. Lowe could not get him back to Trentham until Saturday afternoon. The injury is serious, and will prevent the bay horse racing again this season. The disappointing Maniopoto mare Rerehau has had a .change of stables, and is now under the care of F. J. Carmont at Levin.
The Martian youngsters purchased by the Messrs. Riddiford at the November 6ales at Christchurch have been turned out up till flow. This week J. W. lowe will put the breaking tackle on -them, and after they become accustomed' to their new surroundings' they are to be gelded.
J. H. Prosser is leaving for Hastings to-morrow with Georgo anil Belasco, who are to race at the Hawke's Bay meeting thi3 week.
It was intended to send th» northern jumper Scots Guard to Melbourne to race, and A. Rhodes with F. Tutchen was to make the trip os trainer and rider respectively, but the idea bas now be«n abandoned, and tho sale of the halfbrother to Capitol and Red H'Gregor has fallen through.
A new arrival at the Porirua stables is o roan mare bjp Oaystar from a daughter of Administrator. The mare is owned by a well-known Wairarapa sportsman.
Miraculous, who went wrong at the last Masterton meeting, is now auito Bound again, and will resume work on the Trentham tracks this week.
Though nothing has been heard lately of the proposed new grandstand at Trentham it is understood that tho matter has not been lost sight of, and a comprehensive scheme, which will involve many changes, is at present occupying tho attention of tho Wellington Racing Club Committee.

The Hawke's Bay Jockey Club's Autumn Sleeting will take place on Friday and Saturday.
