ANOTHER INQUEST
NIGHT OFFICER'S ALLEGED ERROR

.. . . Sydney, April 23. At an inquest in connection with the death of one of the victims of the recent railway Bmash, the ' stationmaster. at Binalong gave evidence that after bbo accident the night officer, Cotter, said: "This is a bad fix. I pulled the 'signals in error for the main line in-' 1 stead of the lopp." Witness added that Cotter was a splendid officer, and practically a teetotaller. Ho had worked twelve hours nightly, and his health lately had 1 been unsatisfactory. ■ Tho driver of the Melbourne express eave evidence that the lines were set clear. When he saw the other train he shut off _tho steam and applied the brakes, but too lato to avoid a collision.
