VAGUE BUT PERSISTENT RUMOURS
A SIGNIFICANT SIGN FROM THE WAR THEATRES,
London, April 22. A dispatch from Rome Bays I "Within the_ last twenty-four hours persistent reports have arisen thai the grave international questions confronting Italy may be solved in the near future by what at first sight seems incredible, namely, the conclusion of a general peace in . Europe at no distant date. While the reports are intangible, and cannot be at present ascribed to a definite source, they are reflected in high quarters, and are given heed to by careful observers of international politics. A) son of Prince Bulow is in Home, and the official relations between Italy and the Entente Powers are cordial. In certain quarters of Rome the idea prevails that the ad.vent of Spring has not seen as mtch of the resumption of aggressive hostilities as was promised. This fact is regarded ss significant."
