SUNDAY-SCHOOL UNION
The committee of the Sunday School Union met in tho manager's room of St. John's Church last night, Mr. W. G. Holdsworth being in the chair. There was a good attendance of delegates, including four from Petono and Lower Hutt. The secretary gave a very satisfactory account of the Easter Convention, and it was decided to write to l'almerston thanking the friends for the splendid arrangements made, and for the generous hospitality shown the visiting delegates. A sum of money had been subscribed for the printing of three of the papers read at tne convention, and it was decided that these should be printed in pamphlet form for free distribution amongst the affiliated schools. Tho matter of temperance teaching in the school' was discussed, and it was decided to carry out the recommendation of the Palmerston • Convention that special efforts should he made to secure the signing of a total abstinence pledge by all Sunday school scholars. A programme of winter meetings was submitted by the subcommittee set up for the purpose, and with slight modifications adopted. The meetings will be held in the Y.M.C.A. rooms on Monday evenings, commencing next month. ' On the motion of one of the Lower Hutt delegates, it was decided to start future, meetings at 7.45 p.m. in order to allow, iof suburban members catching an earliei train.
