CREYTOWN
A welcome was accorded the Rev. L'. B. Nealo, of the Methodist Church, on Tuesday night, when a large number of church people were present. Mr. W. B. Sadler welcomed tie reverend gentleman to the district.. Mr. Neale, in replying; said-that in-coming after such a man as the Rev. Mr. Hopper it made tho task harder than usual, but he would do his best for the district. A number of songs and recitations wers given, and light refreshments handed round.
Tho annual meeting of parishioners of St. Luke's Church was held on Tuesday evening, the Rev. A. W. H. Compton presiding. A lengthy report was read by the recretary, and the report and balance-sheet were adbpted. _ It was decided .to hold a series of socials during the winter months in aid of tho pain tint: fund.
The Mount Hector Tourists' Track Committee met in Greytown on Wednesday evening. The secretary was again instructed to write to the Crown Lands Department regarding certain lands. The cjaim made by L. G. 'Humphries and his man for travelling allowance to Mount Alpha to build tha hut was not entertained, as Mr. Humphries, having made a tender for work, could not be paid for travelling thereto. It was decided to go on immediately with the new track from Mount Reeves to Tauherinikau at a cost not to exceed £25. That Mr. "Workman carry out the work. Messrs. A. L. Webster and A. Murray were appointed auditors. A resolution to_ become, a registered body was carried unanimously. Mr Iraia te Whaitewas elected a membeT of the committee. A hearty vote of thanks to Mr. Bassett' fqr the use of his whare at the Waiotune concluded the meeting- ■
