FIGHTING IN THE CAMEROONS
ENEMY DRIVEN BACK TO THE HIGHLANDS Paris, April 21. After stubborn fighting during the last few months, the Germans in the Cameroons have been compelled to withdraw towards high plateaus in the centre of the colony, and have transferred the seat of Government to Yaunde, 011 which place the Allies are advancing.
The French in the east have reached a line on the Lom and Dume Rivers. Colonel Haver's column in the west has reached the Kele River.
Another British column captured a bridge_ over the Ngua River,- and is marching on the Edea Taunde Road.
All losses sustained were insignificant.
BRITISH REVERSE IN EAST AFRICA
GERMANS CLAIM LARGE CAPTURES.
London, April 21
"A German communique claims that th® British lost two hundred killed and four companies taken prisoner at Jsssin, in German East Africa on January 18 and 19. The German casualties totalled sixty-four.
Lord Luoas admitted in the House, of Lords that the Germans Tecaptured Jassin, after the Indians and Africans had exhausted their, ammunition.
