"SPORT AND WAR"
NEW ZEALAND RUGBY LEAGUE CRITICISED. (By Telegraph—Press Aesn—Copyright.) Sydney, April 21. The "Daily Telegraph," in an article »n "Sport and War," after commendthe' English Football Association's lecision not to play matches, says:— "Many .people in Australia and New Zealand would be delighted'to ■ see the {Rugby League authorities-, in 1 those countries follow the English lead. The intention of the New Zealand League to send a team to Australia will .subject them .to a good deal of adverse criticism. There is a' time for mod. things; the present is scarcely the hour to engage in • sporting tours of such magnitude, even if no financial gain is attached to the expedition. If the tour eventuates the participants may discover . that. they enjoy the unenviable reputation' of being the only players belonging to countries vitally interested in the war who found bo much time to play."
