STUDENTS' DAY
TO BE HELD AS USUAL
The date for the annual graduation ceremony of University students is again drawing near, and last niglit the Victoria, College Council received tho following letter from Professor T. H. Easterheld:—"Dear Sir,—A committee set up by th© Professorial Board to consider the desirability of holding a ceremony in honour of the graduates of the year, lias decided to recommend to the Council that a function similar to that held last year be arranged; also to ask if the Council is prepared to make a grant for the purpose of the same amount as on the former occasion. The date of the function would naturally be Thursday, June 24, immediately before the mid-winter recess."
A proposal was made that the same amount as was granted last _ year, namely, £30, should be given. Sir Robert Stout did not think they should adopt this course.
Mr. C. Wilson: It is the one tfme of the year that the graduates have the opportunity of meeting the publio, and I don't think we should. withhold filie amount. , The talk of war taxation does not particularly frighten me, and I think we can spare £30.
Sir Robert Stout: I think it 'is wasted money.
It was decided to make the grant.
