WELLINGTON ORCHESTRAL SOCIETY
4 : A meeting of the Wellington Orchestral Society was held on Friday, whon about thirty members were present. Mr. Bernard Pago was unanimously elected conductor, and it was decided to. begin active work as soon as a satisfactory orchestra could be got- together. Applications from playing members are invited. The subscription for the season's concerts is only* 10s. 6d., aud this sum eutitles subscribers to two tickets for each of the-three concerts. The subscription has been purposely kept at this low figure, in the hope that the Wellington public will be induced to offer its support freely.
Mr. J. G. W. Aitken was unanimously elected president, aud the following gentlemen vice-presidents: Archbishop Redwood, . Hon. A. L. Herdman, Messrs. A. H. Miles, E. D. Bell.'W. E. Bethune, Robt. Parker, W. Gill, Chas. Stephens. The committee is as follows: Messrs. Cohen, SchwartzJ H. Oakes. W. E. Bethune, and Chas. H. Stephens; secretary, Mr. H. H. Tombs; treasurer Mr. M'Donald; librarian, Mr. Fleming.
