SUMMARY AND FORECAST Present indications arc for strong and increasing westerly winds, particularly southward of New Plymouth, and Castlejoint. Unsettled weather with rains probable in the western and southein- ' most districts of tho South Island, and mild and hazy conditions are likely to precede an unfavourable change elsewhere shortly. Barometer falling everywhere. In the East Coast districts fair to cloudy weather has been' experienced, but elsewhere conditions have ben changeable, and in tho West Coast and southernmost portion of ths Bouth Island considerable rain iias fallen. Moderate to strong westerly winds havo prevailed generally. Barometric pressure has continued below normal in the south, but high pressure tune ruled northward of Cook Ktrnit. D. C. BATES.
