ONSLOW BOROUGH WATER SUPPLY
' A ; large; gathering was held in ■ the Khandallah Town Hal l last evening, when tlie three candidates, Messrs. A. E. Budd, J. M. Bale, and E. Hobbs (who, are opposed to the suggested water scheme) addressed the electors. Mr. J. H. Richardson occupied the chair. The speakera quoted standard authorities to show that the amount of water was insufficient for the requirements of the borough at present, let alone the case ten years hence. Legal opinion was quoted to prove that owners of riparian rights had cause for heavy claims of compensation in the event of_ their water rights being interfered with. The candidates favoured the introduction, of gas to the borough and a systematic improvement of the 6treets. The candidates intimated that they were not oftiosed to water, but favoured a scheme combining both water and drainage. They thought, 1 however, that this was not an opportune time to bring down any proposal to borrow money.
