THORNDON METHODIST CHURCH

The quarterly meeting of the Thorndon Circuit was held at the Molesworth Street Church, the Rev. G. S. Cook presiding. During the quarter successful harvest thanksgiving celebrations had been held throughout the circuit, and materially assisted the finances. The Rev. P. J. Cossumhad recently taken his departure, having boen appointed to the charge of the Waihi Circuit. It has been arranged that the Rev. C. H. Standage, of Carterton, should succeed the Rev. Mr. Cossum at Karori and Northland, at which churches the Rev. Mr: Sandage was to oommence his ministry yesterday. The _ financial report submitted revealed the income to oe £133 3s. 10d., and the expenditure £140 Is. 6d., leaving a debit balance on the quarter's working of £6 17s. Bd., which, with the deficiencies of previous quarters, made a total debit balance of £67 Bs. 6d. The collecting for this object had been highly successful, inasmuch that during the past few weeks the sum of £65 had been received in cash and promises, and it was hoped that with other' amounts anticipated that the total deficit would bo liquidated. Included in the amounts received was a donation of £10_ from the Molesworth Street Ladies' Guild. la order to further the interests of foreign missions in the South Seas a Circuit Foreign Missionary Committee' was appointed, with Mr. T. Sims as secretary and treasurer. Reports showed that the various Sunday schools were progressing favourably,, whilst at Molesworth Street the Young Men's Bible Class had been reorganised. A working bee had undertaken the renovation of the Kaiwarra Church, and it was intended to hold a sale of work in that locality to assist the operations. A motion of condolence was'passed to tho relatives of the late Mrs. Bonnington, who had been' connected with the Molesworth Street Church,
