ON AND OFF THE WAGON.
A POLICE COURT INCIDENT. Patrick King was imprudent enough when he oamc into town on Wednesday with his horse and cart to take more liquor than was good for him, which fact was accompanicd by some rather expensive advontures. He had left his cart several times on a certain mission bound before he finally parted'company quite unintentionally with the vehicle. He fell out, while the horse jogged; on, leaving his master on the road. ■ Then the horse camo to grief with a motorcar, and ' succeeded in damaging the cart to the extent of some pounds. Meanwhile King was happened upon by a constable, the frightened horse secured, and all marched off to the police station. Yesterday, King limped into the dock, and pleaded guilty to "being drank while in charge of a vehicle. Sub-Inspector M'Kinnon detailed the facts of the case, accused protesting, however, that "tho motor-car had run into him." Of course, the accused s memory, as the Sub-Inspector remarked. was slightly blurred. The Magistrate imposed a fine of £1, with costs OS.
