SALVATION ARMY.
IMPORTANT STAFF CHANGES. Several important staff changes have been decided upon by Commissioner Hodder, and those were announced by the Commissioner yesterday. Brigadier Carmichael is appointed to the charge of the Auckland division in the place of Brigadier Vince,. who is on furlough. Brigadier Carmichael is an officer of long and varied experience. He has seen much service in Australia, and for the ■ past three years has been in charge of the Wellington division, which extends from Gisborne to Petone, aud in the South Island includes Nelson, Motueka, and Blenheim. Major Toomer, who has hitherto been in command, of the Dunedin division,, will suecned Brigadier Carmichael in the Wellington division. The Major has had wide experience in social and field work in Australia and New Zealand, and was formerly an officer in England. Maior Colvin will be the new divisional commander for Dunedin. |r or many years the Major has been editor of the New Zealand "War Cry," and has also had considerable experience with the Army's Australian publications. lie is a keen organiser, fluent speaker, and has carried out much useful special work among various corps. Adjutant Haywood, of Christchurch, and Adjutant Wellington, of Wellington. are also under orders to transfer. The latter has been secretary for the young people's work in the Wellington division.
