PRAISE FOR THE CANADIANS
SIR JOHN FRENCH'S REPORT (Rflc. April 16, 0.30 a.m.) Condon, April 15.-. Sir John French states that. the Canadians arrived on March 15. He inspeoted the division, which presented a splendid and most soldierly appearance—good physique, hard, and lit. 'I'he division had thoroughly justified the good opinion he had formed of them. They had at first been attached for a few days by brigades, for training; in the Third Army Corps trenches, and General Pulteney had such an excellent report to make of their efficiency that lie was ablo, to employ them in the trenches early in March. The Canadians held part of the line in the First Army at Neuve Chapelle, and although they were not engaged in the main attack they rendered valuable help in keeping the enemy actively employed.
