TO MAKE AMMUNITION
CAN NEW ZEALAND HELP? The Defence Minister has had a few letters from men ready to volunteer to go Home to work at the manufacture of war material. Asked whether 'he. proposed to take any action in the matter. Mr. Allen said: "If we have any number of men here who are competent tradesmen in the manufacture of war material, I believe it would be rendering a great serv.ice to the Mother Country to send them Home. Of course, I can't say whether the Mother Country wants them." He proposed to make inquiry from the Army Council at Home whether it would be advisable to make inquiries in the Dominion as to whether there are any considerable number of such men in New Zealand who were ready to volunteer 'for this service. ;
