iftom Our Bueoial OorresnoEdent.) At the annual meeting of the Petone Railway Benefit Society, Mr. C. Strong presiding, the following officers were elected:—President, Mr. C. Strong (reelected) ; vice-presidcnts, Messrs. J. M'Dougall (re-elected), R. Moore, E. B. Kennedy; secretary, Mr. H. R. Johnson (re-elecCed); treasurer, Mr. W. Huskisson (re-elected); committee, Messrs. Bush, Thompson, Cairna, Hoilis, Hoskins, Williams, Kinder, Macdonald, J. J. Arnold; auditors, Messrs. J. Moss and Maud j trustees, Messrs. H. Howe and IS- B. Horn©. A lengthy discussion ensued regarding the payment of subscriptions by members who had gone to the front. Eventually it was decided that the committee's action in keeping such members financial be endorsed. Respecting the case of one member who bad been.killed in action, it was resolved that a death levy should be made on members, and it is anticipated that the widow will benefit to the extent of £26. Votes of thanks to the retiirng officers and to the staff for facilities given and for services rendered were passed, and a dividend of 9s. 3d. per member was declared and paid out •It is understood that a Ladies' Hockey Club is to be formed shortly at Lower Hutt. At the Petone Salvation Army Barracks last evening; Ensign Soaman presiding, an interesting entertainment was given. Tho following contributed to the programme:—Mrs. Wood, Miss Ashby, and Messrs. Taylor, Walsh, Armstrong, Mason, Borrows, Bosha, Maud, 11. Smith, Reid, Wengdali, Phillpott, H. Smith, M'Millan, and Swaysland.
