THE DOMINIONS' OLDEST RESIDENT.
Sir, —With reference to your local in Monday's issue on th 6 subject of "Who is the oldest living resident in New Zealand?" I presume this relates to the duration of residence in New Zealand, as well as the present age of the resii dent. ■ Mrs. C. P. Davies, of Napier, sister of the late Mr. F. C. Williams, arrived in Now Zealand in 1823, and has been a' permanent resident in New Zealand for about 92 years—her ninetyfifth birthday is at the end of this month. You do not state how many years Mr. T. H. Haskell has resided in New Zealand, and 1 question very much if he can approach Mrs. Davies's record. Mr. William Hillman, of Matahiia, Bast Coast, celebrated his hundredth birthday on the 3rd of this month. —I am. etc., WOHIO.
